Music Studio
Drum Lessons Hawai’i Music Studio is based in Honolulu on the island of O’ahu, and run by drummer Luke D’addario. He offers private drum lessons, professional drum tracks, live drumming services, and an online shop of drum merch.
He believes music can bring people together in many ways, and wants to help drummers live their dream.
He’s played for top Hawai’i artists in reggae, pop, world, R&B, rock, and metal, including Kolohe Kai, the Opihi Pickers, Rebel Souljahz, Ka'imi Hanano'eau, Corrupt Absolute, and many more.
He has over 30 years of experience as a drummer, including writing drum parts, recording drum tracks, performing live, and teaching drums. His love of drumming, and inspiring people, propelling him forward.
He has toured around the world with multiple bands in diverse genres, playing all venue types, from festivals and arenas, to clubs and private parties (Hawai‘i and mainland US, US Territories, Asia, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and more). His bands have both headlined, and played with some of the biggest names in the music industry. He’s played drums for as many as 7 different artists from multiple countries at a single festival show in one night.
You can’t listen to Hawai’i radio in without hearing an artist Luke has worked with, and he’s been featured playing on local TV. His bands have made it to billboard charts (Kolohe Kai), and he’s won prizes in numerous drumming contests hosted by Sick Drummer Magazine, Modern Drummer, and others.
He taught at another local music school in Hawai‘i for 2 years, following and adapting their curriculum, and his own private lessons have included a wide variety of students.
He has a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, and he likes to apply his studies in psychology to his own drumming and performance, as well as in his lessons with students, in efforts to supplement learning.
He is left-handed, but plays right-handed, leading with his offhand. This, in combination with some nerve damage on his left hand from an injury as a teenager, means he's had to work hard to learn to play drums, and because of it, he has unique insight into useful methods to learn, and teach, drum set drumming.
